A comprehensive reference guide to building with Mappica.

Getting Started

Mappica is a powerful, no-code platform for creating interactive data visualizations. Whether you're building with charts, maps, or tables, Mappica gives you full control over every detail with an intuitive drag-and-drop editor.

Accessing Mappica

You can access Mappica using either your Google account or passwordless authentication. To proceed with passwordless authentication, enter your email address and then check your email inbox for a six digit code to open the Mappica Dashboard.

If you don't receive the email promptly, please check your junk mail or spam folder. Note that some email providers may also take a few minutes to process incoming emails.

You can choose at any time to upgrade a workspace to the Mappica Pro plan, which lets you build a custom-branded theme for your visualizations, invite other team members to collaborate, and access other Pro plan features.

Workspaces

After signing in for the first time you'll be prompted to create your first workspace. In Mappica, workspaces are collections of similar projects. For instance, you could create one workspace for personal projects and another for your organization.

Projects

When you click on a project in your workspace, you'll leave the Mappica Dashboard and enter the Mappica Editor.

In the left panel of the Editor, you'll see a Project tab, which displays the following three types of content:

  • Visualizations are pages that contain charts, maps, and other components. Once published, a visualization can be embedded on an external website.
  • Datasets are spreadsheets that store the data used in visualization components such as charts and maps. Each dataset consists of fields (columns) and records (rows). Each field is assigned its own field name and data type, such as “text”, “number”, or “date”.
  • Basemaps are maps stored in GeoJSON format, consisting of features (geographical shapes) such as countries, provinces, and electoral districts. Once imported into a project, a basemap can be used in visualization's map component.
